IN-STUDIO: Introduction to Frame Drumming, Song and Dance
Introduction to Frame Drumming, Song, and Dance
Tuesday, June 7 | 6:00 - 8:00 PM
with Anna Nummelin
*Masks optional for unvaccinated, but always welcome!
In this 2 hour workshop, participants will learn basic frame drumming technique, how to play simple rhythms, and how the drum relates to the elements, the earth, and our bodies. These concepts will then be layered with vocal chanting, singing meditation, and simple waling and dance steps. Participants will have the option to perform this "drum processional" with the group at a performance later this year.
Participants will need to bring their own frame drum like the one pictured here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002E1MOW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
It helps if there is a small notch for the thumb, but it is not necessary. Participants do not need to bring a stick/beater to play the drum.
