Working with Moving Beyond Duhkha (Suffering) and Daurmanasya (Bad Space) with the Ishvara Sutras
Online Workshop with Maggie Kessell, E-RYT 500
Friday, September 24, 2021 | 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon (with 30 days of video access)
The Ishvara sutras in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali invite us to ask, "To what do I surrender?" and "How do I surrender?"
One key tool for transforming negative states is the Ishvara Pranidhana or surrendering to something greater than ourselves. In this workshop we will discuss the concept of Ishvara Pranidhana, Yoga and religion, and the yoga sutras of Patanjali, Chapter 1: 23-28.
This 3-hour workshop will include chanting, discussion, and a practice with asana, pranayama, chant and meditation. The ancient way of absorbing the wisdom of the yoga sutras was to chant them in Sanskrit, listening and repeating what you hear. The repetition of the vibrations has a way of drilling deeply into your system, past the analytical brain, so that the Sutras become available to you when you need them.
