Anchored in "What Is" using ancient meditative techniques from the Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra, we find our way to realizing our identity with "All That Is": Universal Consciousness. These techniques help us deeply experience "What Is" through normal life processes: breathing, perception of light, sound, space, and the body; experiences of nature, knowledge, pain and pleasure; and find in them a doorway to the transcendent. There are 112 of these meditations, called Dhāraṇā, handed down through millennia, and compiled in the 8th century.
Our lives and the world around us are constantly changing. These meditations deepen our felt experience as an integral part of the dance of life. We more accurately perceive that changing reality, helping us actively adapt with kindness and compassion toward ourselves and others.
Each session of this 6-week series will focus on one of the Dhāraṇā, incorporated into the structure of an iRest Yoga Nidra meditation. While this all sounds very technical, your experience is very simple. Just get comfortable, follow along with the guided meditation, and be aware of what is present for you. If you practice these techniques, you may find they become constant companions, available for a "little and often" practice throughout your day and in every circumstance of your life.
Each week will include a brief introduction to one Dhāraṇā and relevant iRest concepts
The guided meditation portion will be about 35 minutes, with a few minutes at the end to help you return to the room and move back into your day. (You can always skip that part and stay in the meditation if you want).
Starting the second week, we'll have an opportunity for discussion and sharing of any experiences from the prior week's meditation.
You'll receive a handout overview of the practice each week, and access to each recording of the practice through the end of May.
Come prepared to be completely comfortable -- loose clothing, pillows, bolster for knees, blanket -- whatever helps your body feel completely at rest.
